Set Up Your Study
To recruit from Testable Minds, go to your experiment’s Minds tab and click New Study.
Study form
Section titled “Study form”Participant profile

Study timings

Participant fee
Section titled “Participant fee”Set how much each participant earns per completed session. The minimum rates are:
- Regular Minds: $7.50/hr equivalent
- Verified Minds: $10.00/hr equivalent
Testable adds a 30% platform commission on top of the participant fee. Use the budget calculator to estimate total cost.
Study description
Section titled “Study description”Write a plain-text description of your study that participants see before signing up. Include:
- What the study involves (type of task, estimated duration)
- Any requirements (headphones, desktop only, etc.)
- What the data will be used for (brief and honest)
Eligibility criteria
Section titled “Eligibility criteria”Filter who can sign up by:
- Age range
- Sex
- Country / language
- Device type
- Minimum approval rate (percentage of a participant’s past studies that were approved; e.g. 90% means at least 9 out of 10 past sessions were accepted)
Testable Minds Panels
Section titled “Testable Minds Panels”Longitudinal panel
Section titled “Longitudinal panel”Invite the same participants back for follow-up sessions. Reference a previous study to recruit participants who completed it.
Exclusion panel
Section titled “Exclusion panel”Exclude participants who completed a specific prior study.
Regular vs Verified Minds
Section titled “Regular vs Verified Minds”Select which pool to draw from:
- Regular Minds: standard participant pool
- Verified Minds: participants undergo additional identity verification including photo ID matching and webcam identity checks, providing higher confidence in data quality
Verified Minds costs more per participant but offers stronger vetting.
Submitting for review
Section titled “Submitting for review”Once your study form is complete, click Submit for Review. Testable staff review submissions during UK business hours. Most studies are approved within a few hours.
If you choose Scheduled timing, the earliest you can schedule a study is 24 hours ahead to allow time for the review process.
After approval, your study is queued and sessions open according to your chosen timing.
