Platform Tour

This page shows you around the Testable interface: what you see when you sign in, how a project is organised, and where each part of your study lives. For the concepts behind these screens, see Start Using Testable.

The dashboard

Signing in lands you on your dashboard, which lists all your projects. From here you can:

  • Start a new project. The Quick project button launches the natural language setup form, the fastest way to get going. You can also import a template from the built-in library of ready-made, fully adaptable experiments, or start from scratch with an empty project.
  • See and change each project’s status. Click the dot next to a project to toggle it between Active (accepting participants) and Offline.

Inside a project

A project is organised into a few areas: the trial file editor where you build the study itself, the Stimuli section for uploaded media, Setup for project-wide settings, and Results where participant data accumulates.

The editor shows your trial file as a spreadsheet grid. Working in the built-in editor is recommended: you see your experiment come to life in real time, get intelligent suggestions, and preview trials instantly. If you prefer an external tool, you can also export the trial file as a CSV and edit it in any spreadsheet tool such as Google Sheets or Excel.

Changes you make in the editor are not visible to participants until you click Publish, which protects live data collection from accidental edits.

Stimuli

The Stimuli section holds the multimedia files your study presents:

  • Images: .jpg, .png, .bmp, .gif
  • Videos: .mp4
  • Audio: .mp3

Text stimuli need no upload. You enter them directly in the trial file.

Setup

Section titled “Setup”

Setup gathers the settings that apply to the whole study:

  • Project name
  • Security and access controls
  • Demographic screener
  • Consent and debrief screens
  • Data saving options

Results

Every recorded session appears in the Results section, where you can download your data in several formats: individual files, a combined long format, a wide format, or anonymised exports. See Results Formats for a full explanation of each option.

Testable Minds in the sidebar

Section titled “Testable Minds in the sidebar”

When you are ready to recruit, the Recruit Minds button and the Testable Minds section of the sidebar take you to Testable Minds, the built-in participant panel.
